Beijing International Studies University (BISU) is a distinguished institution of higher education jointly established by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Beijing Municipal People's Government. Li Yueran

Li Yueran


Li Yueran (1927-2003) served as a Russian translator for Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Deng Xiaoping and other Party and State leaders. In 1965, Li became deputy director of the academic affairs department of the BISU.

Guan Zhenhu

Guan Zhenhu


Guan Zhenhu, a graduate from Fudan University with a bachelor's degree in English, joined the revolutionary cause at the age of 20. He was one of the founders of the department of French language at BISU when the university was established in 1964.

Zhou Xiqing

Zhou Xiqing


Mr. Zhou Xiqing was a famous patriotic scholar, translator and social activist. He had served as secretary-general of the central supervisory commission of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang and also as its consultant.

Dong Leshan

Dong Leshan


​Born on Nov 14, 1924 to a businessman's family in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, Dong Leshan (1924-1999) was a famous translator, writer and researcher of American cultural studies.
