Beijing International Studies University (BISU) has been named to the second batch of Beijing's benchmark universities for artificial intelligence application, released by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission.
The batch comprises five universities and 45 primary and secondary schools, including secondary vocational ones. This follows BISU's earlier selection for Beijing's first batch of education informatization demonstration projects.
In teaching, BISU has built a curriculum system around its "BISU Language Magic Cube" brand, combining AI with knowledge graphs to train multilingual talent and personalize learning. It now covers 15 courses in six languages across 28 classes.
To support this, its AIGC production and service platform for language classrooms integrates large language models with domain knowledge graphs; using retrieval augmentation and controllable generation, it delivers targeted content, supports real-time online answers by teachers, and pushes exercises addressing each student's weak points, providing round-the-clock tutoring.
In research, BISU is reshaping its model through humanities-engineering integration. In 2026 it was approved to establish the Beijing Key Laboratory of AI Multilingual Translation.
The university has also built an AI simultaneous interpreting quality evaluation platform, the country's first third-party platform of its kind, which helps Beijing's AI multilingual translation industry move from being usable to being user-friendly.
In management, BISU is rolling out an integrated smart campus service platform with intelligent Q&A, data retrieval, and administrative functions, enabling cross-department data sharing. Its Q&A agent offers round-the-clock answers and supports peer assistance, academic early warning, and mental health services, improving both learning experience and student support.
BISU will further use the recognition to advance platform development, smart governance, application building, and teacher training, promoting integrated AI innovation across teaching, research, management, and services.
