Beijing International Studies University (BISU) recently held an online meeting with Edge Hill University in the UK to discuss further cooperation.

In his opening remarks, BISU's vice-president Zheng Chengjun introduced the university's institutional strengths and internationalization strategy. He noted that BISU places great importance on expanding its cooperation network with European universities, particularly those in the United Kingdom.

He also expressed BISU's readiness to support collaboration with Edge Hill University in areas such as talent cultivation, joint research, youth exchange, and Sino-foreign cooperative education programs.

Kurt Allman, vice-chancellor for enterprise at Edge Hill University, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to partner with BISU. He stated that Edge Hill University will work closely with its Chinese counterparts to bring cooperative projects to fruition. He also looked forward to visiting BISU in the coming months for in-depth, face-to-face discussions.

The two sides also discussed and negotiated specific cooperative project plans, conducting in-depth deliberations on an undergraduate "4+0" dual-degree program covering curriculum design, course mapping, faculty allocation, and enrollment scale.

Additionally, the two universities confirmed arrangements for signing a memorandum of understanding and agreed on a follow-up cooperation plan.

Founded in 1885, Edge Hill University currently enrolls approximately 15,000 students across three faculties: arts and sciences, education, and health, social care and medicine. The university was named University of the Year by Times Higher Education.
