
The "Civilization Exchange and Mutual Learning: China-Russia Friendly Language Dialogue" event, organized by the China-Russia Committee for Friendship, Peace, and Development, kicked off in Beijing on June 9.

As a member of the Chinese educational council, Beijing International Studies University (BISU) participated in the event and hosted its sub-forum titled "AI Empowering Innovation in Language Education and Talent Development" on June 10.
In his address at the sub-forum, Zheng Chengjun, BISU’s vice-president, emphasized that as Sino-Russian relations have reached an unprecedented level of comprehensive strategic partnership, cooperation between the two countries in political, economic, and cultural fields continues to deepen, creating an increasing demand for high-level, multidisciplinary language talent.
Zheng stated that the theme of the sub-forum was aligned with the needs of the times and the future direction of Sino-Russian language education cooperation. He highlighted that BISU has initiated a new model of interdisciplinary talent development and established institutionalized platforms with Russia, and expressed his hope to explore new paths for AI-empowered language education together with colleagues from both countries.

Over 20 scholars from renowned educational institutions in China and Russia attended the event.
Discussions covered topics such as digital language education, neural network language teaching, bilingual education through interactive games, machine translation and globalization, AI solutions for addressing industry talent shortages in China and Russia, and the development of integrated Russian language teaching materials.
