Spanish ambassador engages with BISU leadership

Marta Betanzos Roig, the Spanish ambassador to China, visited Beijing International Studies University (BISU) on May 19 for discussions with BISU leaders.

BISU representatives have exchanges with the delegation of the Spanish Embassy.

BISU President Ji Jinbiao, welcomed Betanzos and her delegation.

Ji highlighted BISU's commitment to open and inclusive education, fostering versatile talents in international fields. He noted that the university has partnerships with over 240 universities in more than 50 countries and regions.

He emphasized that BISU's Spanish program is recognized as a top-tier national undergraduate program. With strong support from the Spanish Embassy, the university has engaged in fruitful exchanges and collaborations with various Spanish institutions.

Ji expressed gratitude for the embassy's ongoing support and looked forward to deepening cooperation in areas such as translation, tourism management, and business administration.

Betanzos praised BISU's achievements in foreign languages and disciplines like tourism and business management. She highlighted the growing diversity and depth of educational and cultural exchanges between the two countries, which have become vital links in promoting bilateral friendship.

She also expressed hope for continued collaboration between the university and Spanish institutions, fostering closer ties between young people in both countries and helping them become future bearers and practitioners of Sino-Spanish friendship.

During her visit, Ambassador Betanzos delivered a lecture titled Lo que España puede aportar a China — What Spain Can Offer China — to students and faculty of the Spanish program. The lecture was well-received, with lively interaction and in-depth discussions.
