
Carlos Vásquez, the Peruvian ambassador to China, visited Beijing International Studies University (BISU) on May 22, and was welcomed with his delegation by the university's President Ji Jinbiao.

Ji noted BISU's commitment to foreign language education and its role in cultivating talents for international diplomacy. He said that the university currently offers 30 foreign language programs and actively supports the Belt and Road Initiative.
Ji introduced BISU's Spanish program, one of the first established in China, as a nationally recognized top-tier undergraduate program with a long-standing history of collaboration with Peru. He also committed to deepened educational cooperation with Peru and looked forward to expanding resources with the ambassador's support.
Meanwhile, Vásquez praised BISU's international education standards, the achievements of its Spanish program, and the development of its Peruvian Cultural Research Center.
He acknowledged the university's role in promoting cultural exchanges between China and Peru, while Vásquez, highlighting the deep-rooted friendship and historical ties between the two nations, emphasized their importance.
He also introduced the quality of Peruvian higher education institutions and expressed his support for building and deepening educational partnerships. Vásquez recommended the ongoing Peruvian historical artifacts exhibition in China and invited BISU faculty and students to attend various events at the embassy to enhance their understanding of Peruvian history and culture.
During the visit, Vásquez toured the university's Peruvian Cultural Research Center and engaged in discussions with faculty and students from the Spanish program.
