
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Beijing International Studies University (BISU) focused on promoting international cultural exchange and expanding its global influence and capacity for educational openness.
The university enhanced its "Study at BISU" brand in alignment with national strategies for educational internationalization. It developed the fully English-taught program "Chinese Modernization and Urban Development" program, which attracts students worldwide to better understand China's development path.
In 2025, BISU admitted 1,286 international students, marking a substantial increase from previous years. The innovative "2+2" language and professional training program and the "Chinese+" undergraduate project have enhanced students' language and professional skills.

BISU has established itself as a global cultural exchange platform, known as the "Beijing Reception Room," by fostering high-frequency, high-level international collaborations. The university has formed partnerships with 233 institutions worldwide, including 21 top-ranked universities.
It has hosted significant events like the China-Uzbekistan University Cooperation Forum and contributed to global discussions through forums such as the China-US Tourism Leadership Summit.
Moreover, BISU has expanded its international education reach by launching its first overseas collaborative educational project in Morocco, known as the BISU College (Morocco). This project, integrated into Morocco's national education system, was inaugurated by senior Chinese political figures and has been recognized as a key project by UNESCO's Campus Africa initiative.

Since 2021, the university has strengthened its international faculty, increasing the number of long-term international teachers by 35 percent. It has also expanded global practice platforms, with significant student participation in global events such as the 2024 Paris Olympics. BISU's students have also engaged in internships with international organizations, including the United Nations, showcasing their global competence.
As BISU looks toward the future, it remains committed to strengthening its educational systems, fostering cultural confidence, and participating actively in global governance, continuing to write new chapters in international exchange and cooperation.
