The application for the academic project titledled by Professor Hou Yuxiang from Beijing International Studies University (BISU) has secured national support for his academic project, "Compilation, Translation, and Database Construction of Quanzhou Arabic Inscriptions".
The project was recently listed in the National Social Science Fund's Special Research on Rare and Endangered Disciplines by the National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences. This marks a significant breakthrough in BISU's humanities and social sciences research and is the first time BISU has received approval for a project under this special initiative.
The Special Research on Rare and Endangered Disciplines focuses on preserving endangered and rare disciplines and cultural heritage. Approved projects receive support equivalent to the standards of major national social science projects, while individual scholar projects are supported according to the standards of key national social science projects.
BISU emphasizes foundational research in philosophy, social sciences, and language and culture, providing a conducive environment for high-quality research. By leveraging its organizational research strengths, the university has dismantled disciplinary barriers and integrated high-quality academic resources from foreign language literature, Chinese language literature, and tourism disciplines.
Looking ahead, BISU will use this opportunity to continue supporting research and team building in rare and endangered disciplines, encouraging faculty to focus on national strategic needs and cultural heritage missions, thereby contributing to academic innovation and the construction of a culturally strong nation.
