Estonian ambassador to China visits BISU

The Estonian Ambassador to China, Hannes Hanso, along with Marti Mätas, deputy head of the embassy, visited Beijing International Studies University (BISU) on Jan 16.

The Estonian Ambassador to China, Hannes Hanso and leaders of BISU engage in exchanges.

After welcoming Hanso and his delegation, Li Biyou, secretary of the CPC BISU Committee,introduced the university's history, educational characteristics, international cooperation, and Estonian language talent cultivation.

Li stated that BISU remains committed to integrating Chinese and foreign elements and serving national strategies, emphasizing educational cooperation with Central and Eastern European countries.

He hoped that Hanso would support BISU in strengthening cooperation with Estonian higher education institutions, introducing high-level foreign teachers, and promoting mutual visits between faculty and students.

Hanso expressed his gratitude for the warm reception at BISU and praised its educational standards and international influence.

He noted that the Estonian language professionals trained by BISU have become an important force in exchanges between Estonia and China across various fields, playing an irreplaceable role in enhancing bilateral interactions and promoting practical cooperation.

He also emphasized that he would actively convey the university's desire for cooperation to relevant higher education institutions in Estonia, helping to strengthen, enhance, and improve the quality and efficiency of the collaboration between the two countries.

After the meeting, Hanso and his delegation visited the School of European Studies to engage in discussions with the faculty and students of the Estonian language program. He encouraged them to deepen their knowledge of the Estonian language and enhance their intercultural communication skills, hoping that they would become inheritors, promoters, and practitioners of friendly relations between Estonia and China.
