At the recent Global Tourism Economy Forum (GTEF) Heilongjiang 2025, Beijing International Studies University (BISU)'s School of Tourism Sciences joined as a founding council member, collaborating with top universities to advance global tourism governance.
Alongside the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Macao University of Tourism, and the School of Tourism Management at Sun Yat-sen University, the school forms part of the council's core think tank.

The inaugural council meeting of the GTEF opens.
Initiated by the Global Tourism Economy Research Center, this year's forum kicked off in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, gathering over 1,000 experts and scholars from more than 30 countries and regions across five continents. Participants included leaders from the United Nations World Tourism Organization, government officials from cultural and tourism departments, executives from Fortune 500 companies, renowned entrepreneurs, and scholars, all working to promote the sustainable development of the global culture and tourism economy, with a focus on China.
Lyv Ning, dean of BISU's School of Tourism Sciences, attended the event and engaged in in-depth discussions with core council members, reaching a consensus on topics such as international cultural and tourism academic cooperation and resource integration.
In the past six decades, BISU has focused on the unique field of "foreign languages + tourism," cultivating a large number of professionals proficient in international regulations and cross-cultural communication. Being among the first council members is a high recognition of the academic strength and industry contributions of the School of Tourism Sciences and an important opportunity to participate deeply in global tourism economic governance.
