BISU students perform the classic drama "Family" at the Beijing People's Art Theater from Aug 22 to 24.

Since the launch of the "Youthful Bloom in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei" University Drama Festival in April, the Beijing People's Art Theater has selected 15 participating groups from 42 submitted works for this festival.

After BISU's work was selected, veteran drama producers Wang Guchuan and Chen Li, along with renowned actors Zhu Shaopeng, Luo Xi, and Long Yiyi from the theater have provided on-site guidance to the cast.

In the rehearsal hall, expert teachers worked alongside the students, guiding them in script refinement, character development, physical expression, eye contact and stage coordination. The experts' unique insights gave the students a deeper understanding of this classic work.

The drama "Family" is adapted from the classic novel of the same name by Chinese literary master Ba Jin. The play remains faithful to the spirit of the original work, depicting the decay of a feudal family and the awakening of a new generation of youth through the fate of the three Gao brothers. The work reflects the oppressive nature of feudal ethics on humanity and the pursuit of freedom and love of young people, carrying significant and far-reaching implications.

The students immersed themselves in the rehearsals of the drama, continuously refining and adjusting their performances, transforming from mere "participants" to truly becoming "characters in the play", gaining a deeper understanding of stage art and a more genuine appreciation of the theme of the work.

In the future, BISU will continue to advance its arts education program, enhancing students' aesthetic and humanistic qualities. By innovating in content, format, and thought, the university will organize uplifting and refined cultural activities, providing a broader stage for students to engage with and practice the arts.
