Updated: August 13, 2025

Fang Yihan from the School of Country and Region Studies at Beijing International Studies University (BISU) felt deeply honored to receive the university's prestigious President's Medal. This award celebrates her achievements in academics, extracurricular involvement and competitive endeavors.

Despite feeling anxious and doubting herself when comparing her resume to those of other competitors, she bravely took the stage to defend her nomination with conviction.

During her diplomacy courses, Fang excelled academically by keeping up with lectures, taking notes, reading relevant academic literature, and reviewing for exams.

When participating in competitions, she dedicated herself to extensive research and efficient time management.

Despite holding positions in nine clubs, she excelled academically, balancing her extracurricular involvement and her studies to their mutual benefit. From receiving guests, organizing events to hosting competitions—these experiences honed her organizational and coordination skills, enhanced her team awareness and sense of responsibility, and allowed her to meet mentors and friends and grow through communication and collaboration.

For comprehensive growth, Fang advises trying more, making mistakes, and being cautious of the trap of perfectionism. It’s important to master professional knowledge and participate in competitions, school clubs, and internships when an opportunity emerges. She also highlighted the importance of exploring.

Now, as Fang is about to graduate, she will continue her studies at Nankai University, opening a new chapter in her life.

She wants to tell her fellow students: "If you already have a clear plan, move forward with determination; if you don't know which way to go, don't hesitate to try. As long as you dare to try, you will definitely grow during this process. Keep going!"
