A promotional meeting for this year's "China-Africa Universities 100 Cooperation Plan" was held at Beijing Foreign Studies University on May 29.
During the meeting, Gao Xiaojie, director of the Academic and Exchange Department of the China Association of Higher Education, announced the list of key cooperation projects for this year's "China-Africa Consortium of Universities Exchange Mechanism". Beijing International Studies University (BISU)'s program under UNESCO's Campus Africa—BISU College (Morocco) was among them.
The BISU College (Morocco) under UNESCO's Campus Africa is selected as one of the key cooperation projects for the 2025 "China-Africa Consortium of Universities Exchange Mechanism".
During the meeting, BISU's representative highlighted the project's inception and emphasized its groundbreaking nature as this marks the first time “Chinese+Tourism” promoted by BISU has been integrated into another country's education system. He said that the first batch of students from BISU College (Morocco) would finish their studies in Morocco by the autumn of 2026 and then they would come to BISU for further studies.
The BISU project, under UNESCO's Campus Africa, aims to enhance the overall level of higher education in Africa and provide solutions to issues such as faculty, facilities, and research faced by African higher education.
BISU leverages its strengths in tourism management and teaching Chinese as a foreign language to promote the establishment of a tourism program at the Mohammed V University, as well as assisting the development of localized "Chinese + Tourism" courses and the formulation of joint bachelor's and master's training programs.
In faculty training, the focus is on enhancing the professional competence of Moroccan teachers.
In international cooperation and exchange, the college serves as a platform to promote the sharing of knowledge and resources.
In economic development, it provides talent support for Morocco's tourism industry, thereby promoting local economic development.
The selection of BISU College (Morocco) as a key cooperation project for the 2025 "China-Africa Consortium of Universities Exchange Mechanism" will further promote China-Africa educational cooperation. With support from all parties, the college will continue to enhance the quality of education, explore innovations, contribute to the "Education Going Global" strategy, attract more outstanding African youth to study in Beijing, and promote the development of China-Africa educational cooperation.
