On May 18, the 2025 University Volleyball League in Beijing concluded, marking a milestone for Beijing International Studies University (BISU)'s volleyball team, as the women's team achieved an undefeated record to claim their first championship, while the men's team delivered a stable performance to secure the copper trophy.
Two weeks before the competition, Zhang Yixuan, a key player on the women’s team, suffered an unexpected right knee sprain during training and could only watch from the sidelines with a brace after surgery.
However, the injury did not dim their brilliance. Key attackers Cui Wuyou, Yang Yifan, and Yan Chunxue stepped up to lead the offense, while setters Tian Yiyi and He Xu orchestrated the team with "Beidou navigation-style passing".
Libero Zhi Runyi fortified the defense with a "wall of steel", and middle blockers Li Wei and Li Wenting launched "missile-like serves" to challenge the opponents.
In the finals, they defeated last year's runner-up, Beijing Language and Culture University, earning the "dark horse" label and demonstrating the volleyball spirit that "the team is the core" with absolute strength.

The men's team's breakthrough was equally inspiring. For the first time, they advanced to the quarterfinals as the top team in their group. Despite a 0-2 loss to last year's champion — Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication in the quarterfinals, the team’s tenacious spirit of fighting for every point won applause from the audience.
In the battle for third place against the physically strong Beijing Police College, captain Ha Yiyang led the team in summarizing experiences and adjusting tactics. Ultimately, they won 2-0, winning bronze medal for the first time in BISU's history.

Behind the glory is the accumulation of daily sweat.
According to coaches Zhang Yuxiao and Zhang Yadong, the women's team began an intensive training regimen in October last year, progressing in physical, tactical, and psychological training simultaneously.
The men's team focused on refining their "quick attack system", conducting video analysis sessions after each match to decipher opponents' tactics one by one.
From their low point to the current dual breakthroughs, BISU's volleyball team's "comeback" is backed by the courage to face generational transitions, the persistence in scientifically refining training, and the inheritance of the volleyball spirit and tenacity.
