BISU faculty and students visit CMEC EXPO for exchange

A delegation of 40 faculty and students from the School of Tourism Sciences at Beijing International Studies University (BISU) recently visited CMEC International Exhibition Co Ltd (CMEC EXPO) for an exchange program. 

Zhao Rui, deputy general manager of CMEC EXPO, welcomed the delegation from BISU. He spoke about the company's 13-year cooperation with BISU's exhibition management program, saying that since the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement in 2012, both parties have achieved fruitful results with industry-university-research collaboration. Zhao added that a large number of BISU alumni have rapidly grown within the company and have become key forces in its development.

Zhao emphasized the company's commitment to its partnership with BISU and expressed the desire to further strengthen cooperation in areas such as "dual-supervisor" talent cultivation with supervisors from both the university and the company, the company's involvement in talent development, and the construction of industry-university-research innovation centers, so as to continuously provide high-quality internship and employment opportunities for BISU students. 

Zhao spoke of CMEC EXPO's innovative achievements in international exhibitions, digital exhibitions and green displays through cases, and offered five career development suggestions tailored to the students.   

Zhou Junwen, deputy secretary of the CPC School of Tourism Sciences Committee, gave a speech in which she highlighted CMEC EXPO's significant influence in the domestic exhibition industry, and she highly praised the company's outstanding contributions to the cultivation of BISU graduates through university-enterprise cooperation.

She pointed out that in the context of the digital transformation and green development of the exhibition industry, BISU will further deepen industry-education integration with CMEC EXPO to jointly cultivate high-quality exhibition talents with international vision and innovative capabilities, thereby promoting the high-quality development of China's exhibition industry.  

The delegation was guided by company staff members on a tour through the CMEC EXPO work area and visited several exhibition projects. CMEC EXPO staff members introduced the functions of various departments, project operation processes and typical successful cases, and they addressed the students' inquiries, providing them with a comprehensive and intuitive understanding of the daily operations and project management of an exhibition enterprise.

A career development exchange session was arranged during the visit. Outstanding BISU alumni working at CMEC EXPO, including Zhang Jiaqi, Li Xuejiao, Liu Yujin and Liu Mingyang, shared their growth experiences in the workplace. They offered career tips and development advice based on their own experience and insight, and they encouraged the students to embrace challenges and continuously develop their skills. 

During the interactive session, students asked questions and engaged in discussions with alumni on topics such as career planning, industry trends and skill enhancement. They said that the alumni had given them a clearer understanding of the exhibition industry and guidance for their career development.

At the end of the event, leaders from BISU engaged in friendly exchanges with the alumni. They expressed heartfelt gratitude for the alumni's long-standing support for the development of the university and invited them to frequently visit their alma mater to reconnect.

Dong Yuan, a graduate student at the School of Tourism Sciences, said, "Through this visit, I gained a more direct understanding of the actual work status of my senior classmates and received very practical career development advice, which has made my future career planning clearer."

As an integral part of the university's Career Guidance Center's "Face-to-Face with Enterprises" series and a key initiative of the school's alumni work, the exchange visit aims to strengthen university-enterprise cooperation, promote exchanges between current students and outstanding alumni, deepen students' understanding of the exhibition industry and provide practical guidance for their career development.
