BISU and FHM presidents meet to discuss cooperation boost

Anne Dreier, president of Germany's University of Applied Sciences (FHM) paid a visit to Beijing International Studies University (BISU) on Feb 24. During her visit, she was warmly received by Ji Jinbiao, the deputy secretary of the CPC BISU Committee and president of the university.

Ji spoke about BISU's internationalization efforts and its cooperation with institutions in Germany. He noted that the German language program is one of BISU's founding disciplines, and practical cooperation with high-quality German universities greatly benefits the cultivation of talent in this field.

He praised FHM's educational philosophy, which emphasizes both leadership and practical skills, and expressed gratitude for their dedicated training of BISU's exchange students.

He said in the last decade of cooperation between the two institutions, they have worked together to cultivate a group of high-level management talents proficient in both Chinese and German, with expertise in various fields such as trade, technology, education, culture, and media, adding that BISU will continue to encourage students to study in Germany to enhance their professional skills and employment competitiveness.

Ji also emphasized that BISU places great importance on international development. As a key base for cultivating international students in the capital, the university welcomes more German students and scholars to visit and study in China.

Dreier praised FHM's unique talent training model, which adopts a school-enterprise collaboration system, and said that FHM has become one of the best business schools in Germany.

She pointed out that the university maintains excellent cooperation with leading industry companies and multinational corporations, offering professional training programs that include a semester of internship, ensuring almost full employment for graduates. She also mentioned that many Chinese students have gone on to work at renowned companies such as Siemens, Mercedes-Benz, and Huawei.

She highly praised the achievements of BISU's German language education, noting that the BISU students in Germany are diligent and have achieved excellent results, receiving positive feedback from employers due to their strong language skills and rich professional knowledge.

She hoped that this visit will further strengthen BISU's ties with FHM and deepen cooperation in talent cultivation. After the meeting, Ji and Dreier renewed the agreement to restart the 2+2 dual bachelor's degree program collaboration.

During the visit, Dreier and her delegation also toured BISU's translation achievements exhibition to gain deeper insights into the university's multi-language and translation disciplines.

The meeting was also attended by Zheng Chengjun, vice-president of BISU and a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC BISU Committee.

FHM is a non-profit private university located in Bielefeld, Germany, offering top-tier education with a mission to provide society with senior management talents and to train experts and managers with practical working abilities in enterprises.

It has become one of the top ten private universities and one of the best business schools in Germany after 25 years of development. It offers courses in fields such as economics, tourism, media, communication, human resources, health, and sociology, with its programs in economics and tourism management ranking at the top in Germany.
