Beijing International Studies University (BISU) has recently been honored for its internationalization efforts.
Its cooperation programs, recognized as the concrete results of the People-to-People Bonds Thematic Forum of the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, have been listed in Beijing's 2024 public diplomacy achievements.
During the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in 2023, BISU's collaborations with eight universities from Australia, the Czech Republic, Italy, Russia and other countries were included in the forum's list of practical achievements. These international collaborations continued to progress steadily in 2024.
BISU has actively expanded its global partnerships, continuously optimizing its international cooperation network. In 2024, it signed 64 cooperation agreements with 42 overseas institutions and international organizations, fostering diverse collaborative efforts such as student exchanges, faculty visits and joint research. It currently has over 200 international partners.
Throughout the year, BISU hosted 75 foreign affairs events involving nearly 700 participants from 38 countries and regions. High-level delegations visited BISU, including those led by Komiljon Karimov, the first deputy minister of higher education, science, and innovation of Uzbekistan, Natalia Bayona, executive director of UN Tourism, and the vice-ministers of foreign affairs from Slovakia and Gambia.
Youth exchange groups from various countries, including the United States, France, Russia and Japan, also paid visits, promoting people-to-people exchanges and sharing China's stories.
In 2024, the inaugural "Chinese Modernization and Urban Development" master's degree program was successfully launched, enrolling 28 students from 22 countries.
BISU achieved breakthroughs in international internships by sending 29 outstanding students to Paris for an extended Olympic-related internship program. The university also signed agreements with UN Tourism for student internships and joint master's programs.
In addition, the BISU Academy (Morocco) began enrolling students, integrating into Morocco's national education system with 33 students joining the "Chinese + Tourism" undergraduate program, which was approved as an educational practice and research base by the Ministry of Education.
BISU also hosted major forums and dialogues, such as the sub-forum of the China-US Tourism Leadership Summit and the founding ceremony for the Sino-Russian Tourism University Alliance, showcasing its strengths in tourism education and facilitating international cultural exchanges.

As BISU celebrates its 60th anniversary, the university remains committed to its mission of international people-to-people exchange. In 2025, it will continue to deepen international cooperation, advance high-quality talent cultivation, support organized research, explore international internships, enhance faculty development and expand programs for international students in Beijing and China.
