Egypt's Ambassador to China Assem Hanafi visited the Beijing International Studies University (BISU) on Dec 23, where he was received by Ji Jinbiao, deputy secretary of the CPC BISU Committee and president of the university, accompanied by Zheng Chengjun, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC BISU Committee and vice-president of the university.

Ji provided an overview of BISU's development and the establishment of the School of Middle Eastern Studies and Arabic language programs to the Egyptian delegation. He noted that the Arabic language was one of the earliest majors to be established at BISU and remains one of the strongest language programs nationwide.
Emphasizing BISU's commitment to internationalization, Ji mentioned the long-standing educational cooperation with countries in the Middle East, including Egypt. He expressed gratitude for the support provided by the Egyptian Embassy in China in educational collaboration between BISU and Egyptian universities, stating BISU's willingness to further expand educational cooperation with Egypt.
Hanafi acknowledged the cooperation between Chinese and Egyptian universities, as well as people-to-people exchanges. He praised China's achievements in national rejuvenation and major project development, noting Egypt's desire for development and eagerness to learn from China's successful experiences.
He also mentioned Egyptian universities' promotion of Chinese language education and many Egyptian people's keen interest in learning Chinese.
Hanafi delivered a lecture on "Sino-Egyptian Relations" at the School of Middle Eastern Studies, taking time to talk with students afterwards.
