Representative of QS North China Region visits BISU

Zhang Ping, regional director at Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), an international higher education consulting company headquartered in London, visited Beijing International Studies University (BISU) on Nov 28.

Ji Jinbiao, deputy secretary of the CPC BISU Committee and president of the university, met with her, accompanied by Zheng Chengjun, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC BISU Committee and vice-president of the university.

Ji welcomed Zhang and said that QS World University Rankings and subject rankings are of great significance to enhancing the international reputation and influence of the university. He said BISU looked forward to strengthening communication with QS to increase its global presence and promote the internationalization of its discipline building.

During the visit, Zhang outlined the QS subject ranking indicator system. She spoke about factors considered in the QS rankings, including teacher and student data, social reputation, employer reputation, academic paper citations and sustainable development, and answered questions about the source of statistical data, the basis for subject classification and the participation of universities in various countries.
