The First Flag Football Competition for College Students in Beijing was held at Beijing International Studies University (BISU) on Nov 23, with 300 athletes and coaches from 25 teams participating in the event.
These teams were divided into six groups and played a total of 46 games. After an intense competition, the BISU women's team clinched the championship, and its men's team came in fourth place among 18 universities. BISU was honored with the Best Organization Award.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Liu Man, the secretary of CPC Department of Physical Education of BISU Committee and director of the department.
Zhang Wei, secretary general of Beijing University Student Sports Association, expressed his gratitude for BISU's outstanding contributions to the flag football. He encouraged all the athletes to unite and strive forward in the competition.

Liu expressed his gratitude towards association for its trust in and support of the university, and he extended a warm welcome to the athletes. He then outlined the basic situation of BISU, its educational philosophy and the development of the flag football project.

Flag Football, also known as battle on the grass, is a strategic sport that will be among the official competitions of the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China, as well as in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
BISU has been offering flag football courses since 2008, for undergraduate, graduate and international students. The university has authored the first-ever textbook on the sport and also offers online courses.
The flag football program, a high-profile project, has long been a beloved choice among students.
The college team has won the championship of the Beijing Flag Football League, taken second place in the national championship, and has played in the World University American Football Championship three times. After years of practice, the event has become a BISU calling card.
