Updated: August 16, 2024

Liao Yanru, a BISU alumnus, is currently the deputy director of the China National Symphony Orchestra (CNSO), responsible for organizing performances and managing the affairs of the choir.

She has participated in numerous national-level concerts, including the large-scale symphony at the G20 2016 Hangzhou Summit and the cultural performance at the 2023 Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

Tang Ensi, an official at the publicity office of the CPC BISU Committee, recently interviewed Liao on her life at the university.

Liao said that rich cultural atmosphere and diverse extracurricular activities nurtured her love for the arts. "The university that is renowned for its language teaching also places great emphasis on students' holistic development," she said. "It was here that my passion for the arts began to blossom."

Liao also mentioned that the rigorous language training of the university laid a solid foundation for her career. "The intensive language training at BISU enabled me to excel in my first role as an interpreter for foreign conductors at CNSO," she said.

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of BISU, she expressed her best wishes for the university, hoping that it will continue to cultivate outstanding foreign language talents to contribute to China's diplomacy and cultural exchange.

She also expected the potential collaboration between CNSO and BISU in the field of aesthetic education.
