A delegation from Belarusian State University (BSU), led by the rector Andrei Karol, visited Beijing International Studies University (BISU) on March 21.

Chang Yu, secretary of the CPC BISU Committee, said at the meeting that the university attaches great importance to cooperation and exchanges with Belarusian universities and institutions. It has established a Belarusian research center and erected a statue of the Belarusian poet Yanka Kupala on campus.

He highly praised the outstanding contributions made by BSU to the country's educational, scientific and social development over its 100-year history, adding that he expected cooperation in more fields to further enhance the internationalization of both universities, starting from student exchange programs.

The two sides have a meeting at the BISU on March 21.

Karol expressed his gratitude for BISU's warm reception, as well as its active promotion of Sino-Belarusian cultural and educational exchanges and cooperation. He presented the history, academic achievements and social contributions of BSU in detail, and highlighted that this visit made him feel BISU's open and inclusive attitude towards international cooperation. Though the two universities have different curriculum settings, they share a consistent understanding and anticipation of cooperation. He also expressed his hope that student exchanges will lay a solid foundation for further cooperation.

Zheng Chengjun, a member of the standing committee of the CPC BISU committee and vice-president of the university, described the university's internationalization efforts from the perspectives of students, scholars, academic development and social services.

The two sides signed a cooperation agreement after the meeting and officially established the cooperative relationship.
