The Journal of Beijing International Studies University was included in the 10th edition of A Guide to the Core Journals of China, reflecting the significant achievements made in the development of the journal since its revamp in 2017.
The bimonthly publication of BISU is included as a core journal.
The bimonthly publication focuses on research in foreign languages and literature. It has established distinctive columns, such as "Language Services", "Translator Behavior Studies", "Multimodality Studies" and "Ecological Discourse Studies", since its 2017 revamp, and has since gained more support from well-known experts. It is also recognized for its rigorous manuscript selection process and support for young scholars.

The publication was included twice in 2018 and 2022 as a core journal in the China Humanities and Social Sciences Journal AMI Comprehensive Evaluation Report, and was included in the Selected Materials Reprinting Index Ranking Report by Renmin University of China several times. Its performance in the CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure) and the CSSCI (Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index) has also significantly improved, thanks to the university’s leadership team and research department.
Furthermore, it was twice recognized as an "Outstanding Humanities and Social Sciences Journals of National Universities", first in 2019 and again in 2023. Its column “Language Services” also received the “Special Column Award” in 2023.
The compilation of A Guide to the Core Journals of China 2023 edition, led by the Peking University Library, commenced in October 2021. It combined quantitative with qualitative evaluation to select 1,987 core journals from domestically-published Chinese journals. It is a great honor for the journals to be included in the guide.
