The 12th Seminar on China-Morocco Cultural and Educational Exchanges was recently held at Beijing International Studies University (BISU), with the theme “Integration of Chinese and Moroccan Culture and Tourism: Opportunities, Challenges and Pathways”.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Yu Gang, director of the BISU International Exchange and Cooperation Office.
Nearly 30 experts and industry leaders from China and Morocco engaged in in-depth discussions during the seminar.
Zheng Chengjun, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC BISU Committee and vice-president of the university, outlined BISU’s distinctive advantages and highlights of its internationalization efforts.
He reviewed the achievements of the previous seminars and suggested promoting the integration of Sino-Moroccan culture and Beijing’s plan to developing itself into an international exchange center.
He also hoped that both sides would continue to leverage their strengths, jointly cultivate tourism talents, facilitate exchanges in the humanities field and make new contributions to the China-Morocco strategic partnership.

In her speech, Karima Yatribi, the foreign dean of the Confucius Institute at Mohammed V University, expressed gratitude for the strong support provided by BISU over the years in promoting exchanges between the two countries.
She emphasized the achievements made by the Confucius Institute. Not only has it been honored as a Global Model Confucius Institute, but it has also established multiple teaching sites and cultivated many talents who have contributed to the development of the cultural and tourism industries of the two countries.

In his keynote speech, Fu Zhiming, deputy dean of the School of Foreign Languages at Peking University, emphasized that friendly interactions between Chinese and Arab youth are the foundation of mutual understanding, mutual trust and friendly exchanges. He also shared his personal experiences to illustrate the significant role of youth exchanges in promoting bilateral relations.

A professor from Mohammed V University also delivered a keynote speech, expressing a strong desire for the two universities to take the seminar as an opportunity to deepen cooperation and friendship.

During the seminar, experts from the two countries discussed the integrated development of Sino-Moroccan culture and tourism, cultural and educational exchanges, future prospects for cooperation in the digital economy, the adaptability of Moroccan tourism products to the needs of Chinese tourists and the opportunities and pathways for Sino-Moroccan cultural and tourism exchanges.
They proposed diverse approaches to the development of cultural and tourism industries in both countries.

The closing ceremony was presided over by Wei Qirong, deputy dean of the School of Middle Eastern Studies. She expressed her anticipation for continued exchanges and cooperation between the two sides, emphasizing the cooperation potential between Beijing and Rabat to create more development opportunities and provide platforms for talent cultivation.
