Symposium on high-quality development of the trade in culture and tourism services held at BISU

A symposium on high-quality development of the trade in culture and tourism services was held at Beijing International Studies University (BISU) on Nov 20, 2023. 

On the same day, the Culture and Tourism Research Base was unveiled at the university’s National Institute of Cultural Development of International Strategy.

Wang Liming, an official at the department of policies and regulations under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism; Miao Yang, an official at the Department of Service Trade under the Ministry of Commerce; and Ji Jinbiao, deputy secretary of the CPC BISU Committee and president of the university, delivered speeches at the event.

In his speech, Wang stressed the importance of setting culture and tourism research bases to promote the healthy development of culture and tourism industry.

He also expressed his hope for the research base to focus on the new circumstances in the new era, support the industry development and give full play to its advantages through effective coordination and targeted and systematic research.

Ji said that BISU would continue to make new breakthroughs in the construction of research platforms.

It would support the development of the research base in terms of system building, disciplinary development and hardware and software resources, and make its own contribution to the high-quality development of trade in culture and tourism services in the new era, he said.

After the report, six academic advisors discussed about enhancing the influence of Chinese culture.   

The experts stressed the important role of the research base in telling China’s story well and building a community with a shared future for mankind. They pointed out that the story of culture and tourism should also be told well in diverse ways, adding that it was important to promote in-bound traveling for foreigners to understand China. They also stressed the importance of developing publishing sectors and training talents.

The symposium was guided by the department of policies and regulations under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, hosted by BISU, and organized by the Culture and Tourism Research Base under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (the National Institute of Cultural Development of International Strategy at BISU).
