The high-end translation talent training base at Beijing International Studies University (BISU), which has been jointly established by the International Department Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC) and BISU, was inaugurated on Sept 26.
Officials of IDCPC and BISU attended the ceremony. Cheng Wei, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC BISU Committee and vice-president of the university, hosted the event.
On the ceremony, Ji Jinbiao, deputy secretary of the CPC BISU Committee and president of the university, briefly introduced the development of the translation discipline at BISU.
He emphasized that BISU, with nearly 60 years of experience in translation education, has maintained a leading position in disciplines such as the translation of political texts, public policies, traditional Chinese culture and international communication.

He stressed that the establishment of the training base supports the overall diplomatic agenda and promotes cultural exchanges. The base will focus on organizing training programs, deepening exchanges and cooperation and cultivating leading translation talents.
Gong Yuan, an official at IDCPC, congratulated the people behind the establishment of the base and expressed gratitude to them for their hard work and strong support.
She said that IDCPC and BISU should leverage the advantages of the base to explore new models for training translators and contribute to the training of specialized talents that meet the needs of the new era's international communication.
Chang Yu, secretary of the CPC BISU Committee, said that building a national team of translators and promoting the interpretation and international communication of Chinese culture is not only a glorious mission bestowed upon BISU but also an important foundation for the university to promote cultural exchange between China and other countries.

He emphasized that the IDCPC and BISU have a good tradition and a solid foundation for cooperation. By establishing the training base, the collaboration is deepened and professional education and translation practice is combined, providing excellent development opportunities for BISU.
The university will strive to build on the advantages of multilingual education and explore new models for cultivating translation talents for Party's international exchange.
