On June 27, a group of foreign teachers from Beijing International Studies University (BISU) and Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) recently visited the Traditional Chinese Medicine Experience Hall at the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM). The aim of the visit was to enhance care for foreign teachers, introduce them to traditional Chinese medicine, and deepen their understanding of Chinese culture. During the visit, He emphasized the longstanding friendship between BISU and BFSU, encouraging foreign teachers to establish connections, share experiences, and engage in teaching and research collaborations. The Traditional Chinese Medicine Experience Hall at BUCM was highlighted as a center for cultural exchange in Chinese traditional medicine, offering foreign teachers an opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge and experience in this field.

The group attended a special lecture by Professor Wang Lepeng from BUCM, which covered various aspects of traditional Chinese medicine, from traditional Chinese tea culture to therapeutic methods and the underlying philosophy. Live demonstrations of acupuncture, massage, cupping, and other traditional Chinese medical practices were conducted, providing insight into the essence of Chinese medicine. Professor Wang emphasized that traditional Chinese medicine encompasses not only a medical system but also represents a way of life rooted in natural principles and influenced by centuries of philosophical thought.

Following the lecture, the foreign teachers participated in interactive experiences. They engaged in activities such as identifying Chinese herbs, crafting moxibustion rolls, experiencing electronic tongue and pulse diagnosis, and learning about the evolution of traditional medicine from ancient pharmacies to modern herbal dispensaries. They also had the opportunity to experience traditional Chinese therapeutic methods, including acupuncture, massage, ear acupuncture point application, moxibustion, and cupping, immersing themselves in the unique and ancient diagnostic and treatment techniques of Chinese medicine.
After the experiential activities, the foreign teachers engaged in enthusiastic discussions, expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to gain a hands-on experience of traditional Chinese medicine. They commended the university for providing such an immersive cultural experience, enabling them to explore the rich cultural heritage associated with traditional Chinese medicine.
This event, jointly organized by the International Exchange and Cooperation Offices of both BISU and BFSU, served as a valuable platform for communication and cooperation among foreign teachers. It represented an innovative initiative to strengthen inter-university collaboration in foreign teacher exchanges. In the future, both universities will continue to explore and innovate in academic exchanges, cooperation, and resource sharing among foreign teachers, with the aim of creating a unique international home for Chinese and foreign teachers and students, showcasing the distinctive internationalized character of both institutions.
