Beijing International Studies University (BISU) held its commencement ceremony to honor the graduate class of 2023 on June 25, with nearly 4,500 attendees including graduates from the class of 2022 and 2023, as well as their families and friends from both China and abroad.

During the ceremony, 297 graduates were awarded the title of "outstanding graduates", 156 of which ranked at municipal level. Among these accomplished individuals, many have chosen to engage in foreign affairs, embark on innovative entrepreneurial ventures, or pledge their service to the nation by joining the military. They have demonstrated their commitment to personal growth and making a difference by undertaking challenging assignments in underdeveloped regions of China.

He emphasized that as they embark on their journey from BISU, they should traverse the world, travel thousands of miles, and remain steadfast in their initial aspirations. Embracing the era, he encouraged them to be confident, maintain their focus to fulfill their ideals, and nurture the confidence to withstand any challenges. He also emphasized the importance of patience in the face of unprecedented freedom, stating that adopting a "lying flat" attitude is not a choice, but rather patience and perseverance are the best companions.
Song Jianming, father of Song Suchen, a graduate from the School of English Language, Literature and Culture, delivered a speech as a parent representative. He said, "The scholarly atmosphere, soaring spirit, and symbolic features of Beijing International Studies University have already deeply rooted themselves in students' hearts and will be cherished forever. These red genes and patriotic sentiments will have a lasting impact on our children's lives."
Wei Qirong, a professor of the School of Middle Eastern Studies, delivered a speech as a teacher representative. She encouraged the graduates to build a strong body, develop the habit of using books as friends and to never put them down, and to remain optimistic and often introspect.

The ceremony was presided over by Zhang Yan, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC BISU Committee and vice-president of the university. Also at the ceremony were Wang Xiuyan, deputy secretary of the CPC BISU Committee, Cheng Wei and Zheng Chengjun, members of the Standing Committee of the CPC BISU Committee and vice-presidents of the university, Teng Jinhui, secretary of the BISU Discipline Inspection Commission, Li Zhen, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC BISU Committee and director of the Organization Office of the CPC BISU Committee, and He Jing, assistant to the BISU president.
