André Veloso was born in November 1992 in Portugal. He is a foreign expert in BISU, currently teaching Portuguese at the Spanish and Portuguese Department. He has a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Minho, in Portugal, with a focus on teaching Portuguese as a Foreign Language and Chinese/Portuguese translation. His first experience living in China was in 2013 when he was an exchange student at Nankai University in Tianjin, China. In 2015 he started working as Portuguese as a Foreign Language lecturer at Hebei Foreign Studies University, and in 2017 he moved to Shaoxing, where he taught over 15 different classes related to the Portuguese Language at Zhejiang Yuexiu University. At Yuexiu, he helped host the 4th edition of CROSSINGS, an international conference focused on Portuguese studies, in collaboration with other universities from Macau, Portugal and Brazil. For the last three years he has also been an examiner for the Portuguese proficiency international certification exams CAPLE, which are also hosted multiple times a year at BISU. Now he teaches Speaking, Writing, An Overview of Portuguese Speaking Countries, Translation, etc. at BISU, where he started working in 2022. 

He also works as a translator, focusing on translating Portuguese teaching materials and works relating to Chinese culture, both fields which he is currently researching.
