Beijing Key Laboratory of B&R Data is the first key provincial-level laboratory in the field of Belt and Road Initiative studies in China, using digital devices for collecting and analyzing data and offering suggestions for decision-making. It was evaluated as a key Beijing laboratory in 2016. The laboratory focuses on integrating digital interconnection with the strategic task of the BRI, improving the capital’s urban development and the country's abilities of data gathering, analyzing, security guarantee and strategic decision-making to promote the study and application of the BRI.

Through digital digging and processing, the laboratory has built three national indices, including investment security, cultural diplomacy, and language strategy. By far, the laboratory has built the BRI big data analysis system and the BRI multilingual intelligent inter-translation monitoring system on international public opinion, making the think tank a new engine of the economic and social development of countries involved in the BRI, a new tool for international competitiveness, a new way for national governance and a new model for people-to-people communication.
