BISU wins in ‘Reasons to Love Beijing’ short video competition

Hosted by the Information Office of Beijing Municipality, the award ceremony of the 2nd 100 Reasons to Love Beijing Short Video Competition was held at the China Arts and Crafts Museum on July 14. This competition had 3,500 video entries. Over 2,000 competitors from about 100 countries and regions participated. Beijing International Studies University (BISU) won the outstanding organization award and 10 of its works won prizes: two won first prize, one third prize and seven won outstanding prize.

The competition collected short videos from foreign experts, employees of foreign companies, international students, foreign media practitioners, and ice and snow athletes. The contest provided an opportunity for foreigners to share their stories and their reasons why they feel affection for the country. This competition has garnered more than 3,500 videos covering topics such as culture, history and arts, and projecting an ebullient, friendly and progressive Beijing.

Since the launch of the competition, BISU has encouraged teachers and students to participate to spread traditional Chinese culture and tell Beijing’s stories well by short videos, building a good international image for the university.

BISU won two first prizes, one third prize and seven outstanding prizes. The School of International Education of Chinese Language won one first prize, one third prize and five outstanding prizes.

An international student of the School of International Education of Chinese Language of BISU, who goes by her Chinese name Lin Na, delivered a speech as an award-winning representative. She expressed her pride for winning the prize. “Beijing is a beautiful city with thousands of years of history. I love Beijing. I love to visit museums and eat delicious foods. I am proud of having the opportunity to perform for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games. It’s my honor to make my contribution to this sports gala,” Lin said.

A total of 100 outstanding works of “100 Reasons to Love Beijing” will be translated into Chinese, English, French and other foreign languages to promote at overseas social networking platforms and media.

The short video competition will continue to be held every year to showcase Beijing’s unique charm.
