Foreign students and teachers at Beijing International Studies University (BISU) have expressed their best wishes to China in a video, hoping that the country can win the battle against the virus.

"Come on, Wuhan! Come on, China!" they said in unison. In the face of the epidemic, unity is strength.

International students have also written articles in Chinese to express their feelings and thoughts about the outbreak. Many of them said they believe that China will ultimately triumph over the virus.

Su Jingcheng, a student from Equatorial Guinea who studies Chinese at BISU, shared his experience of being stranded in Wuhan during the winter vacation due to the outbreak of coronavirus.

"China, especially Wuhan, is facing a difficult situation," he said. "The local government is doing its best to take safety measures in this critical circumstance. The hotel I'm living in and the supermarkets are equipped with infrared thermometers to protect residents. I'm grateful to BISU for its support, including accommodation and food supply, when I was in need. The teachers also contacted me and supported me spiritually. I see that the Chinese government is making great efforts to protect every single one of us."

"I wish everything will be fine in China, especially in Wuhan," he added. "We are together, we are not alone."

Lu Xiuyuan, a student from Zimbabwe, said that he had always dreamed of coming to China since he was a child, influenced by Jackie Chan's films.

"I'm glad to see that China is indeed a peaceful, harmonious, united, diligent and loving nation," he said. "Now China has become my home. I think the coronavirus is an unprecedented tragedy that is affecting everybody and even taking away our celebration of Chinese New Year."

"Thank you to the government for making great efforts to protect every one of us in need," he added. "And much appreciation to all the doctors and nurses for treating patients. China stay strong, Wuhan stay strong. I love you, my beloved China."

"The COVID occurring in 2020 not only affects all Chinese people but also brings certain fear and concern to the world," said another international student.

"However, from my point of view, none of the countries’ governments can protect their citizens at the same standard as the Chinese government does. It is hard to enable all the citizens to cooperate with each other and follow the commands, especially in a country of 1.4 billion people, but the Chinese government and citizens have turned this tough work into reality. It is valuable to learn the methods of how to improve civilians’ awareness of the virus and ways to prevent it. In conclusion, I think we should praise the Chinese government for its approaches in facing this crisis. Come on, China! Come on, Wuhan!"

"It’s such an honor for me to express my real feelings in a lesson on Beijing TV concerning the coronavirus," another international student said.

"In my opinion, this lesson is vital to students, especially to us international students, because through it, we know how Chinese people battle with the virus and protect their motherland. I was inspired by the unwavering spirit of the Chinese nation in the face of adversity. The Chinese doctors have shown exceptional courage and dedication in performing their duties, even when it meant leaving their families to protect others. I consider them to be the epitome of selfless service and would like to refer to them as ‘the most beautiful retrograders.’”
